A charming vintage Wedgwood limited-edition collector plate entitled “Mending the Thatch”, featuring original artwork by British artist Chris Howells.
The detailed rural scene depicts a traditional thatched cottage being repaired, with a horse-drawn cart, farm workers, villagers and poultry gathered beside a country pond. The artwork is signed by Chris Howells within the design.
Issued in 1992, this was the fifth plate in Wedgwood’s Country Days series, created to portray the everyday life of a rural community in a bygone age.
The reverse identifies this example as plate number 1018 F from the official limited edition. Unlike a numbered edition restricted to a fixed quantity, production was limited to a maximum of 55 firing days.
Crafted in Wedgwood fine bone china by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Limited in Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, England.
The plate comes with the original Wedgwood information paperwork shown in the photographs, including information about artist Chris Howells and the history of Wedgwood.

Condition
Very good vintage condition overall.
No obvious chips, cracks or repairs can be seen in the photographs. The front artwork remains colourful, detailed and glossy, with only light surface marks or signs of previous display consistent with age.
The printed information and Wedgwood backstamp remain clear and readable.
The original paperwork has age-related folds, creasing, small marks and general handling wear. Please examine the photographs carefully for its exact condition.
