A vintage mid-century gentleman’s travelling grooming set, presented in its original fitted brown zip-around case.
The set contains a selection of matching brown grooming and toiletry accessories, including a bristle clothes or hair brush, comb, two cylindrical screw-top containers, rectangular lidded container and a collapsible travelling shaving brush.
The shaving brush has a silver-coloured metal handle that fits inside its matching brown protective tube for storage. A small yellow fabric drawstring pouch is also included.
Several of the accessories are made from an attractive mottled brown early plastic. Similar sets are often described as Bakelite or phenolic plastic, but the material has not been tested, so it is listed as Bakelite-style rather than confirmed Bakelite.
The brown fitted case has a structured rectangular shape, contrasting stitching and a metal zip closure. It would make an interesting addition to a collection of vintage barbering accessories, gentleman’s vanity items or mid-century travel memorabilia.
