A beautiful vintage Danish porcelain collector plate entitled "I Forstår Mig Ikke" ("I Don‘t Understand Myself"), featuring enchanting artwork by wildlife artist Karen Jean Bornholt.
Issued in 1986 by Grande København – Porcelain of Denmark, this is the fourth issue in the series based on Hans Christian Andersen‘s "The Ugly Duckling" (Den Grimme Ælling).
The artwork captures one of the story‘s most touching moments, depicting the lonely young swan beside woodland water while a curious kitten watches from a fallen tree and a hen looks on nearby. Soft pastel colours and highly detailed natural surroundings create a peaceful, storybook atmosphere filled with reeds, flowers and woodland textures.
The reverse confirms the title "I Forstår Mig Ikke", plate number 2288A, artist Karen Jean Bornholt, issue year 1986, and that the edition was limited to a maximum of 50 firing days. It also includes a quotation from The Ugly Duckling in Danish.

The plate appears to be in very good vintage display condition, with vibrant artwork and a glossy finish. No chips, cracks or repairs are visible in the supplied photographs. There may be light surface or display marks consistent with careful storage, while reflections across the glaze make extremely fine scratches difficult to assess fully. The original presentation box shows age-related storage wear, light discolouration and minor edge wear. The certificate and accompanying paperwork also display light handling and storage creasing.
