A vintage Danish porcelain collector plate entitled Den Smukkeste af Dem Alle, meaning The Most Beautiful of All, featuring detailed storybook artwork by Karen Jean Bornholt.
Issued in 1987 by Grande København – Porcelain of Denmark, this is the sixth and final issue in the Den Grimme Ælling, or The Ugly Duckling, series inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale.
The softly coloured scene captures the story’s joyful conclusion, with the now fully grown swan being welcomed by a group of elegant swans on a peaceful woodland pool. Willow branches, reeds, flowers and a distant bridge frame the birds, while one swan descends gracefully with its wings outstretched.
The reverse identifies this example as individually numbered plate 642A. It also confirms the title, artist, 1987 issue date, position as the sixth plate in the series and production as a limited edition restricted to a maximum of 50 firing days.
Factory-pierced holes on the reverse allow the plate to be fitted with a suitable hanging wire for wall display.
The plate is accompanied by its original Grande København presentation box, numbered certificate and additional paperwork as shown in the photographs.
An attractive display piece for a collector of Danish porcelain, Karen Jean Bornholt artwork, Hans Christian Andersen memorabilia, swan ceramics or vintage storybook collector plates.
