You are purchasing a Vintage Vase Planter Rabbit Under a Tree Posy Vase Hornsea Fauna Royal Made in England No. 55 Kitsch Ceramic Collectable Earthenware Planter.
The jug has a small chip on the base, but this does not show on any of the front. This is just where the base has chipped slightly as seen in the picture. however this is minimal.
Hornsea Pottery was founded in 1949 by brothers Colin Rawson and Desmond Rawson with funding from a local business man, Philip Clappison.
The factory was well known for its traditional character jugs and ‘Fauna’ posy vases with attached animal figures. Designers such as as Marion Campbell, John Clappison, Alan Luckham, Martin Hunt and Robin Pavitt were all credited for designing some of the most modern (at the time) ceramic arts.
This particular vase depicts a rabbit and is stamped Hornsea Fauna Royal No. 55. The stamp identifies this model was made between 1962-73.
Approximate Measurements:-
4&1/2" HIGH (11.5CMS) X 4" WIDE (10CMS)
The small kitsch posy vase would make the ideal planter, though it would be small.
