A beautiful vintage Aynsley round trinket box with its original removable lid, decorated in the discontinued Wild Tudor pattern.
The most reliable description for this larger form is a round trinket or charm box with lid. It may also be described as a jewellery box, keepsake pot, vanity box or decorative dressing-table container.
The box has a low rounded body with softly curved sides and a gently domed fitted lid. The lid is decorated with a detailed arrangement of colourful English garden and wild flowers, including rosebuds, pansies, pinks, blue flowers and delicate foliage.
Smaller coordinating floral sprays decorate the outside of the box. A fine gold-coloured line follows the edge of the lid, providing an elegant finish against the white fine bone china.
The underside carries the blue Aynsley crown backstamp reading “Est. 1775, Aynsley, Wild Tudor, Fine Bone China, Made in England.”
The Wild Tudor pattern was produced from approximately 1991 to 2001. This dates the box to the 1990s or around the turn of the millennium, making it approximately 25–35 years old.
It would be ideal for storing rings, earrings, jewellery, small keepsakes or other treasured items. It would also make an attractive decorative box for a dressing table, bedside table, shelf or china cabinet.
The larger size, fitted floral lid and recognisable Wild Tudor decoration give it particular appeal for collectors of Aynsley giftware and vintage English bone china.
