A beautiful vintage Aynsley 5-inch hexagonal vase in the discontinued Wild Tudor pattern, made in England from fine bone china.

The specialist-catalogued description for this form is the Wild Tudor 5-inch Vase, with the catalogue piece code VAS5M1. Its softly faceted body and six-sided base also make “hexagonal vase” a useful and accurate description.

The vase has an elegant baluster shape with gently rounded shoulders, a short flared neck and a subtly shaped opening. Its compact proportions make it suitable as a bud vase, posy vase or small decorative flower vase.

The front is decorated with the detailed Wild Tudor design, featuring an arrangement of traditional English garden and wild flowers. The design includes rosebuds, pansies, blue flowers, pink blossoms and delicate green foliage. A separate pansy spray decorates the neck.

The opening appears to have a very fine gold-coloured edge, although much of this detailing has become worn or dulled with age.

The underside carries the blue Aynsley crown backstamp reading “Est. 1775, Aynsley, Wild Tudor, Fine Bone China, Made in England.” A separate printed blue letter “A” is also present.

The Wild Tudor pattern was produced from approximately 1991 to 2001. This dates the vase to the 1990s or very early 2000s, making it approximately 25–35 years old.

It would be ideal for a few small flowers, an individual bloom, dried stems or a miniature artificial arrangement. It is also attractive enough to display empty on a mantelpiece, shelf, dressing table or alongside other Aynsley Wild Tudor pieces.

Condition

Good vintage condition overall.

No obvious chips, cracks or repairs can be seen in the supplied photographs. No pronounced crazing, heavy staining or significant damage is visible.

The floral decoration remains colourful and clear. The fine gold-coloured edging around the opening appears worn, dulled or uneven in places.

There are light surface and handling marks consistent with the vase’s age. Minor shelf wear and light underside discolouration are visible around the base.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and condition report.
