A substantial vintage Aynsley 7-inch Hexagonal Covered Caddy in the discontinued Wild Tudor pattern, made in England from fine bone china.

The factory description confirmed on an exact boxed example is “COV CADDY HEX 7in,” meaning a 7-inch Hexagonal Covered Caddy. It may also be usefully described as a tea caddy, large hexagonal ginger jar, decorative storage jar or lidded china canister.

The caddy has a rounded six-sided body with gently curved shoulders, a matching hexagonal foot and a removable domed lid. The lid is topped with a rounded bud-shaped finial.

A large Wild Tudor floral arrangement decorates the front, featuring traditional English garden and wild flowers in shades of pink, red, lilac, blue, yellow and green. Smaller coordinating floral sprays appear around the body and lid.

Gold-coloured detailing follows the edge of the fitted lid and the finial, complementing the colourful botanical decoration.

The underside carries the blue Aynsley crown backstamp reading “Est. 1775, Aynsley, Wild Tudor, Fine Bone China, Made in England.”

The discontinued Wild Tudor pattern was produced from approximately 1991 to 2001. This dates the individual caddy to the 1990s or around the turn of the millennium, making it approximately 25–35 years old.

Originally produced as a decorative covered caddy, it could be used for individually wrapped tea bags, wrapped sweets, coffee pods, potpourri or other small dry packaged items. It would also make an attractive decorative ginger jar for a kitchen dresser, sideboard, mantelpiece or china cabinet.

Its larger size, distinctive hexagonal form and complete matching lid give it particular appeal for collectors of Aynsley Wild Tudor and vintage English bone china.

Condition

Good vintage display condition overall.

No obvious chips, cracks or repairs can be seen in the supplied photographs. No pronounced crazing, heavy staining or significant damage is visible.

The floral decoration remains colourful and clear. There appears to be some light age-related rubbing, dulling or unevenness to the gold-coloured detailing around the lid edge and finial.

Light surface marks, small specks and signs of previous handling may be present on the body and lid.

Grey shelf marks, rubbing and light discolouration are visible around the underside foot rim. These marks are mainly confined to the base and will not be prominent when the caddy is displayed.

The original matching lid is present and appears to sit correctly on the caddy. The lid finial appears intact.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and condition report.
