A beautiful vintage Aynsley round gift bowl in the discontinued Wild Tudor pattern, made in England from fine bone china.
The recognised specialist description for this particular form is a Round Gift Bowl with Wavy Edge. It may also be usefully described as a sweet dish, bonbon bowl, trinket bowl or small decorative serving bowl.
The bowl has a softly rounded body with a gently scalloped and undulating rim. A fine gold-coloured line follows the wavy edge.
The outside is decorated with a continuous garland of colourful English garden and wild flowers. Individual floral sprays also decorate the inside of the bowl, including pansies, rosebuds, thistle-like flowers, pink blossoms and small blue flowers.
The underside carries the blue Aynsley crown backstamp reading “Est. 1775, Aynsley, Wild Tudor, Fine Bone China, Made in England.” The original oval blue and gold Aynsley foil label remains attached inside the bowl.
The discontinued Wild Tudor pattern was produced from approximately 1991 to 2001. This dates the individual bowl to the 1990s or around the turn of the millennium, making it approximately 25–35 years old.
Originally sold as decorative Aynsley giftware, the bowl could be used for wrapped sweets, small trinkets, jewellery, keys, potpourri or simply displayed as part of an Aynsley Wild Tudor collection.
Its compact size makes it suitable for a dressing table, sideboard, shelf, mantelpiece or china cabinet.
