A beautiful vintage Aynsley Oak vase with its original matching lid, decorated in the discontinued Little Sweetheart pattern.
The specialist-catalogued name for this particular Aynsley form is an “Oak vase, with lid.” It has a classic baluster or ginger-jar shape, with rounded shoulders, a gently tapering body, raised neck and removable domed lid topped by a moulded bud-shaped finial.
The white fine bone china is decorated with delicate pastel floral sprays in shades of pink, blue, lilac, yellow and green. A larger arrangement decorates the front of the vase, with smaller coordinating flowers placed around the shoulders and lid.
The underside carries the blue Aynsley crown backstamp reading “Est. 1775, Aynsley, Little Sweetheart, Fine Bone China, Made in England.”
The Little Sweetheart pattern was produced from approximately 1986 to 1996. This places the vase within the late 1980s or 1990s and makes it approximately 30–40 years old.
This substantial decorative vase would look beautiful displayed on a mantelpiece, sideboard, dresser, shelf or within a collection of vintage English china. It would also make an attractive decorative ginger jar or covered urn for a traditional, romantic, cottage-style or pastel interior.
