Darling is the first Royal Doulton figure produced in the HN Series, designed by Charles Vyse and introduced in 1913. Modeled as a young child dressed for bed, it was christened by Queen Mary during her visit to the Royal Doulton factory in April 1913.
During a visit to the Royal Doulton factory, Queen Mary picked this piece out and exclaimed ‘Isn’t he a darling!’ Hence it’s name..
This figurine is modeled on the first figurine darling. It was in production from 1944-1997. This particular piece is circa 1980‘s -1990‘s as it has the copyright mark on the base.
